With the wider adoption of VR and rapid advances in generative AI, film and animation are shifting

from flat viewing to highly immersive experiences. AI-driven capabilities—such as character motion

and facial-expression synthesis, affect simulation, scene generation, and interactive response—

enhance realism and interactivity in VR film and animation. This paper reviews these applications

in terms of immersive experience design, emotional pacing, workflow optimization, and personalized

audience responsiveness, and then uses a questionnaire survey and data analysis to test their effects

on audience experience and emotional transmission. Results show higher ratings for VR than

traditional viewing in visual immersion, presence, and narrative engagement; immersion,

entertainment, aesthetic experience, and interaction comfort are positively associated with emotional

responses, which further relate to intentions to rewatch and recommend. The discussion also proposes

practical guidance for production and compliance governance, emphasizing ethical and privacy

safeguards in collecting emotion-related data.
